Surprise, surprise — the older we get, the greater the odds we’ll have hearing loss. At least that’s the takeaway from today’s hearing fact.
The New York Times — citing tests done by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Study — notes that 80 percent of people in their 80s “have mild to moderate hearing loss or worse.” That number is definitely higher than cohorts in lower age groups.
But really, is it a surprise? This mid-life blogger is first-hand witness to senses fading with age, and I’ll happily shrug it off as a sign of a life thoroughly lived if and when I have hearing loss in my 80s.
Especially because I know I can do something about it! Just as glasses can help with vision issues and ibuprofen can help with creaking joints, hearing aids can help with hearing loss. And our Livio Edge AI hearing aids can help with even more than that!
So for all you in your 80s with hearing loss, don’t fret it, fix it — and live the rest of your years as fully and joyfully as you lived those up until now!
