In a March 2018 fact sheet about hearing loss, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that unaddressed hearing loss poses an annual cost of $750 billion around the globe.
They attribute the costs to health services, educational support, loss of productivity and “societal costs.”
The WHO goes on to recommend “early detection and intervention,” especially for young people, and remind us that “people with hearing loss can benefit from the use of hearing devices, such as hearing aids.”
